Will the 2012 International Aquarium Congress cost the earth?
In line with the Two Oceans Aquarium’s own sustainability policies and initiatives, and its Platinum status in the Heritage Environmental Rating Programme, the local organising committee (LOC) has compiled a comprehensive sustainability policy for the 2012 IAC.
This policy underpins all decisions made by the LOC in terms of the IAC and wherever feasible, we have signed up service providers and suppliers who are committed to making a difference in both environmental and social terms.
Wherever possible we are using local goods and services, procuring goods made from recycled materials, and reducing our consumption wherever appropriate in order to keep the 2012 IAC footprint as small as possible. We’re also involving local communities in the production of conference tables, conference bags and lanyards and will share these great stories with you shortly.
