Photos: 8th IAC registration underway
8th International Aquarium Congress (IAC) delegates from around the world are making their way to the Cape Town International Convention Centre today to pick up their welcome packs, which include conference bags made from hemp, lanyards made by the Positive Beadwork Project, programmes and handbooks printed on recycled paper and T-shirts made from bamboo fabric, all in line with the IAC’s commitment to sustainability.
Delegates can register until 18h00 today, after which they should make their way to the Two Oceans Aquarium for the 8th IAC welcome reception, which starts at 19h00.
The IAC volunteers are dressed in their finest blue and are on hand to assist delegates.
Mandarin- or Japanese-speaking volunteers are here to assist delegates who require multi-language translation.
Professor George Branch, who will be delivering one of the keynote speeches at tomorrow’s opening ceremony, was seen picking up his welcome pack. “That’s Prof Branch,” whispered one volunteer to another …
Our volunteers will answer any questions about tours or transfers, and everything in between.
